Mention precision engineering and in particular machining processes such as CNC Turning and CNC Milling and it’s probable that most people will immediately think of traditional engineering metals such as cast Iron, Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Brass and Copper. But that is no longer the case because in addition to these classic materials, at Core CNC we have a formidable reputation for engineering excellence and precision perfection right across the expanding range of the more exotic metals such as Stainless Steel Alloys, Titanium, Super Duplex and of course the wide range of Nickel Alloys. And that, of course, is not to mention the expansive range of Engineering Plastics, all of which we are totally familiar with and which have long occupied a place on our materials list.
But … and how about this for a first? A short while ago we received an enquiry to ask us whether we could machine foam?
The foam in question turned out to be a high-specification high-density material that was to be used for what would become a key component within specialist buoyancy products. It was absolutely crucial though, we were informed, that these components were precision manufactured to extremely high tolerances in order to ensure that they had total compatibility with the rest of the construction. Never one to decline a challenge, we first of all obtained and thoroughly investigated the foam designated for the job. Then we experimented with different ways to set up the material in our machines, before finally we trailed a number of different machining methods to ensure that we could match the quality standards that were required.
Do you have a component that requires machining to the highest Quality Assured ISO 9001 standards? Whether it is CNC Turning or CNC Milling then we can certainly help you. If it is a difficult to engineer material then that will not faze us. And if you think that the material you need cannot be CNC Machined, ask us anyway. If anyone can machine it, Core CNC can!
